“I Can See It All” – Mirai Nikki (anime) – 3/10 Sweethearts
The best way to predict the future is to invent it.” ~Alan Kay quotes
Genre: Horror/Action/Romance/Mystery
Review Status: Complete (1 OVA/1 OVA)
Licensed: This OVA is unlicensed in the US
Art/Animation: The art/animation is pretty decent, but the CG is rather obvious and unattractive.
Summary: Middle school 2nd year, Amano Yukiteru, is a boy who has problem making friends. He thinks of himself as a bystander and will always write down everything he sees in a cell phone diary.
Tormented by solitude, Yukiteru began to imagine things like a friend called Deus Ex Machina who is apparently the Lord of Time & Space. Seeing Yukiteru's miserable state, Deus gives him a new ability. His diary will now record events that will happen in the near future. Yukiteru is then forced to participate in a game which the winner will become Deus's successor. (Source: Mangaupdates)
Review: I’d been waiting for a year. A year since I heard an OVA was being made. One that would set up the story of Future Diary, introduce us to the world and the characters. I got it!
A glorified 6-minute preview.
Honestly, watching this was like watching one of those extended previews in the movie theatre. There’s a boy! He gets a cellphone… that can tell the future! There’s a girl who knows! There’re some explosions! And some other people who have dairies!
*end*
I suppose it isn’t too bad for a preview, but for the time that I spent waiting for it (and it being delayed a season), the mediocre-quality animation and CG, and how short it was, I was sorely disappointed.
Overall, skip this and read the manga.
Recommended: No. But 12+ if you insist. They pass over all the gore and blood, go straight to some explotions. There’s also a kiss.
